Many people love TV. Me too. Sometimes, I will ask somebody else to record TV shows for me so that I can watch them on computer later, or burn TV shows to DVD for TV to play using DVD player. But most cases, I will download TV shows from internet. With time goes on, a long list of TV shows collection is there. Then archiving TV shows is necessary. Usually, I will only burn favorite TV shows to DVD for long-time saving. In this article, I want to share some experience of recording and burning TV shows to DVD.
What you will need
1. Windows Media Center, included with Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate editions, or DVD Slideshow Builder for Windows XP.
2. DVD Burner and DVD Disc
3. TV signal. You need to connect a TV signal to your computer from an over-the-air antenna, a cable jack in the wall, or a set-top box.
4. TV Tuner, both TV Tuner Card or external TV Tuners.
You can choose to record a TV show that is currently airing. When you do this, the show is recorded from the moment you start recording.
1. Launch Windows Media Center.
2. On the start screen, scroll to TV + Movies, and then click live tv.
3. While a program is playing , click Record on the smart controls panel.
Recording Shows to DVD Tips:
1. Record TV Series. Instead of recording of your favorite TV show every week, you can automate the process by scheduling the recording of an entire series. To do so, firstly scroll to TV + Movies on the start screen, and then click guide. Second, locate and right-click the TV series that you want to record, and then click Record Series.

You may have recorded many TV shows on your computer. Now wanna burn recorded tv shows to DVD to play on portable DVD player or on your car's backseat DVD player? You may do this in Windows Media Center if you have a DVD burner attached to Media Center PC. Please follow these instructions:
1. Insert a recordable DVD disc into your computer's DVD burner drive.
2. Launch Windows Media Player and select Burn CD/DVD in Task section of start screen.
3. Next, "Select Disc Format " screen will appear and select Video DVD as the video format. Click "Next".
4. Specify a name to your TV Show DVD and Click "Next".
5. On the "Select Media" page, select Recorded TV, and then press Enter or OK button on your remote to continue.
6. On the "Choose Recorded TV" screen, select the TV shows or videos you want to add to the DVD by highlighting them and pressing OK on your remote.
7. Click Burn DVD to start saving TV shows to DVD.
8. Windows Media Center will notify you when the TV Shows DVD has been created.
9. Insert the DVD into any standard DVD player to enjoy TV shows. When the DVD starts, a Media Center menu will appear so that you could choose which of the recorded TV shows to play.

Windows Media Player allows you to record live TV with the help of TV turner, and lets you enjoy TV shows and TV Series easily on portable DVD player and on another computer. However, it only exists on Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate editions. For Windows XP, you may need other software to record and burn TV shows to DVD. Step 1: Import Recorded or Downloaded TV Shows
Launch Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder and click Add Photos/Videos button to import all recorded TV shows and downloaded TV shows. It's a good idea to add a new slideshow to contain Behind-The-Scenes (Bonus Materials) and TV show related pictures, for instance, the posters, cast photos, wallpaper, etc. If you use Windows Media Center, the recorded files are located under {system drive, usually C}:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Recorded TV
Step 2: Author TV Show DVD menu
Switch to Menu tab to author DVD menu for photo slideshow. Many pre-made DVD menu templates are provided on the left of Menu tab. Double click desired menu template to applied. And then right-click on the right to customize menu to get a personalized slideshow DVD menu. By the "Add Frame" item on right menu, you can add as many as possible tv episodes to a single menu page.
Step 3: Burn TV Show DVD with menu
The final step is to burn TV Show DVD. First go to Create tab and select DVD Video as the output format and go to Option dialog to define correct TV standard (NTSC or PAL). Finally, just click Start and you get your TV shows DVD! Once TV show DVD is burned, play on TV with any standard DVD player or portable DVD player.
Tips for how to burn TV shows to DVD
1. Right-click on a completely designed DVD menu template and select Save as Template to save template to Custom category so that you can use it next time when authoring DVD menu.
